Mobile All-Terrain Radiological Surveyor [MARS]

APANTEC provides both fixed and mobile emergency response instrumentation to perform real-time field measurements of possible airborne radioactive releases during emergencies.

The Mobile All-Terrain Radiological Surveyor (MARS) designed for the vehicle based monitoring of Gamma radiation and the wireless transmission of monitored data to a centralized data acquisition base station.

MARS offers dependable radiation detection in various applications such as real-time accident and post-accident scenarios at nuclear facilities, environmental surveying and homeland security.

MARS can be used for both fixed installation monitoring or for operation in a mobile/vehicular configuration. Included with the system two gamma scintillation detectors, one temperature sensor, one humidity sensor, one USB hub, one laptop PC with external hard drives, one GPS instrument, one set of system cables, and the DORIS display and control software. All items except the laptop PC and DORIS software are provided in a rugged light tight enclosure suitable for outdoor use.

The APANTEC scintillation detector design automatically compensates for variations in temperature. An option for temperature control of the detector enclosure using a thermoelectric heater/cooler is available Apantec DORIS software enables fast and accurate decision making based on integrated radioactivity data management.

FEATURES
Display Of Radiological Information Software (D.O.R.I.S.)
Radiological data, positioning information and operational parameters are displayed using the Apantec model DORIS software operating on a rugged laptop PC. The laptop PC is a rugged industrial grade instrument suitable for mobile use. Two external 40 GB hard drives are included in addition to the hard drive internal to the laptop PC. The external hard drives operate using the USB ports located on the laptop PC. The external hard drives are physically located within the detector enclosure. The laptop PC and DORIS software operate in the Windows operating system environment. DORIS software acts as the display and control device for operation of the gamma survey system. The DORIS software integrates the radiological data from both of the gamma scintillation detectors, the GPS positional information and the temperature/humidity data into a single concise database
Radiological information is provided in the form of counts per minute. The DORIS software includes full multi-channel analyzer (MCA) controls which allow the operator to establish up to ten Regions Of Interest (ROI). The radiological data and GPS position data can be displayed either as a tabulated value associating the activity for each defined ROI with the positional information, or displayed in a graphic format on a terrain map. Each data point is time and date stamped. The data points are retained on the hard drive for archiving and download. The data from each sensor is logged every thirty seconds. DORA
The DORIS software also includes administrative functions such as data manipulation, channel identification, data archiving, and password protection controls for security access to operational parameters.
